Secure Those Clevices!

Secure those clevices!

Model aircraft suffer a lot of vibration and stresses in flight. It has been known on too many occasions for the clevices to either come apart, or come loose causing loss of control, and an expensive accident and in the worse case an injury. This can be avoided very easily and practically no cost as follows.

1. Use a lock nut tightened against the clevice(see photo point 1).

2. If it is a metal clevice (I personally recommend metal as they are much stronger and suffer no virtually no wear) crimp the threaded part (see photo point 2)so there is resistance when you screw the clivice on to the threaded rod.
Do not use metal clevices on metal engine throttle arms.

3. Cut a small slither of fuel tube and slide over clevice. This ensures that the clevice stays closed and in position (see photo point 3).
