Tie your battery down!

Tie your battery down!

Another item that often needs correcting on models I have checked over before flying is the fixing of the flight battery. The flight battery has to be securely fixed into the aircraft to stop it coming loose in flight. If it does come loose the best case might be change of C of G (Centre of Gravity) making the aircraft difficult to fly.

The worse case will be the battery disconnecting with the resulting complete loss of control and inevitable loss of model, loss of pride, a large hole in your wallet to replace the destroyed aircraft, and of course an out of control model is a threat to life and property. Safe flying is no accident!

Tip
Use a piece of PVC electrical insulation tape on all servo lead extensions joints to ensure they do not come apart during flight (you can just see an example at the top of the picture)
